Here's what's happening...

  • Assistant DG, Eileen Rau, presented our Club with a Citation. Way to go!

  • The C-SPAN bus will be in Newington from 12 noon to 2 P.M. at the Town Hall upper parking lot (across from the library). Visitors will be able to tour the bus, which has a mobile teaching area and full TV station.

  • Dave Williams' Paul Harris dinner is in planning for the fall. Watch for updates on the Club's calendar page.

  • President Joane is back from Germany and participated in her first event as Club President for Rotary-sponsored Extravaganza Movie Night on Tuesday, July 14. There was a good turn out as Rotarians sold candy, soda and freshly made popcorn.

  • Rock Cats night is set for Wednesday, August 12. And the Y-US picnic is on for August 20. Visit the Club calendar page for details...

  • Parks n Rec Department is looking for volunteers for a hour or so to man the rides ticket booth this Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, at Mill Pond Park. Please contact Jeff Hedberg if you can help...

  • Rotary Movie Night, "Daddy Daycare" begins at 8:45 PM on Tuesday, July 14th. Volunteers should arrive by 6:00 PM for setup. Please bring ice and coolers. Contact President Joane for more information and to volunteer.

  • Welcome new member, Mike Turgeon

  • "Grandpa is a Weido," a full-length feature film about anti-bullying was shown at the Newington Town Hall Council Chambers at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2009. The movie is geared towards middle school children. Volunteers should be there by 6:30. For tickets and more information, contact Bob Randich.

  • On Wednesday, June 3, the club presented its donation of three EMT kits, in memory of the late Russ Correll, to the Newington Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Click here to see photo;

  • Next week's speaker will present information on disaster-relief shelter boxes, read more here...

  • Club bi-laws have been adopted and will be posted to the Member's Only area soon;

  • The Club is sponsoring two Newington High School sophomores to this year's RYLA event. Bob Falce will be coordinating;

  • Since the DCF Connectickids golf tournament will no longer be held, a club golf tournament committe has been formed to see if it is viable for the Club to hold an event next year;

  • Two, $1000 scholarships will be awarded this year and presented at the NHS ceremony on June 3;

  • Sports Night was held on Friday, April 10, 2009 with special guest speaker, UCONN Football Coach Randy Edsall. The event drew record attendance and raised $2,000, which the Club donated to the Cromwell Children's Home. (See photo)
