Newington Rotary

... has been helping our local, regional and world community since 1960.

Here are some of the many recent ways we’ve connected to our community:

Construction of a new picnic pavilion at Churchill Park, aptly named the Newington Rotary Pavilion

Annual food drives to benefit the Newington Food Bank

Donate backpacks and school supplies for children of families in need

Promote literacy by providing dictionaries to every third grader attending in Newington schools

Sponsor programs for juniors in high school to develop leadership and good citizenship qualities

Award college scholarships to high school seniors

Support youth sports activities

Purchase equipment and support new programs for our local police and fire departments

Host an annual Breakfast With Santa fundraiser

Participate at the annual Newington Waterfall Festival

Past projects have included:

Purchase of specialized web cameras for the neonatal intensive care units at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and the UCONN Health Center

A room at the Lucy Robbins Welles Library

An all-accessible playscape at Mill Pond Park

Provided a pool at the former Newington Children’s Hospital

Rotarians make a difference on a global scale, too. Your membership gives you access to a global network of professionals and leaders who share a passion for applying their collective expertise and resources to make a positive change.

Here are some ways we connect with the Rotary world:

Financial support for Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign, a movement which has just about eradicated the disease

Participate in worldwide humanitarian efforts to provide clean water and proper sanitation for poor villages in Guatemala

Purchase shelter boxes that provide temporary housing in catastrophic emergency situations

Donations to 9/11; Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Irma and Kathmandu earthquake relief efforts

When you join a Rotary club, your potential to make a difference in the world grows exponentially.
